핀란드의 수도 Helsinki에 새로운 랜드마크가 세워졌다. 지난 2018년 5월에 문을 연 St. George는 148개의 객실과 5개의 스위트를 가진 럭셔리 호텔로, 편안한 여행을 위한 다양한 서비스, 투숙객들의 오감을 만족시킬 만큼 아름다운 예술작품, 디자인 요소들로 채워져 있으며, 투숙객들의 요구에 맞는 객실 타입, 실내 수영장과 스파, 피트니스 센터는 물론, 레스토랑과 베이커리, 바(Bar)와 카페테리아가 갖춰져 있는데다 인근에 다양한 관광 요소들이 즐비하다. 오래전에 지어진 신고전주의 양식의 St. George 호텔 건물은 핀란드 대표 건축가 Onni Tarjanne의 초기작이었으며, 과거 인쇄소로 활용되던 핀란드 문학/예술의 본거지였다. 건물은 두 세기가 흐른 뒤 호텔로의 재탄생을 위해 과거 Helsinki 예술인들의 감수성을 간직하도록 했으며, 인접한 아르누보 스타일의 5층 규모 건물과 통합되면서 더욱 웅장하고 우아한 공간으로 거듭났다.

 

 

 

Opened in May 2018, Hotel St. George presents 148 guestrooms and five suites spread across an historic building located opposite the capital’s Old Church Park. Rooted in this thriving neighborhood, the hotel is a re-imagination of the ‘grand hotel’ in the most contemporary sense and meets tomorrow’s travellers with a seamless amalgamation of new luxury, and authentic, original experiences. The result is a property that brings together a number of national creative from the realms of art, gastronomy and design with a concept and script that combines various touchpoints—from alchemy and science, to culture and enlightenment—for unforgettable stays defined by holistic wellbeing and contemporary design. A new icon has emerged.

 

 

SPA & FITNESS
150평 규모의 Spa & Fitness 공간에는 ‘건강한 삶’을 위한 핀란드인들의 인식을 반영하듯, 스파, 사우나, 헬스장, 마사지 등의 시설이 갖춰져 있다. 투숙객들은 세상에서 가장 깨끗하고 미네랄 함유량이 높다고 알려진 핀란드의 온천수로 Spa를 즐기며, 럭셔리 스킨케어 브랜드 Omorovicza와 Lumene의 스킨케어 서비스를 받을 수 있다.

 

Capitalising on Finland’s renowned respect for wellness, the St. George Care spa brings together fitness, massages, and treatments in a way that equally pays homage to the country’s philosophies and resources and follows the hotel’s overall concept of holistic wellbeing. For example, Finland’s drinking water, deemed the cleanest in the world, takes prominence in many of the services offered, with pure arctic spring water featuring in the spa’s facials, while luxury skincare brands Omorovicza and Lumene, both based on the healing powers of mineral rich water, are exclusively used at the spa.

 

 

RESTAURANTS & BARRESTAURANTS & BAR
해가 짧은 Helsinki는 하루 중 절반 이상이 저녁 시간이기 때문에 St. George에는 레스토랑, 베이커리, 바(Bar) 등 사교를 위한 다채로운 공간이 마련되어 있다. St. George의 보석과도 같은 사교 공간, Wintergarden은 핀란드의 예술가 Pekka Jylhä’s의 조각 작품들이 채워진 18세기 풍의 레스토랑 겸 칵테일 바(Bar)다. 한편, 교외의 작은 식당 겸 식료품점을 모티브로 한 St. George Bakery에서는 매일 신선한 베이커리와 커피를 제공하며 투숙객들의 간단한 조찬, 점심식사를 맡고 있다. 일류 셰프 Mehmet Gürs가 이끄는 Andrea 레스토랑은 노르딕 스타일의 화덕 요리부터 지중해 풍미의 해산물 요리까지, 40종 이상의 메인 메뉴를 보유하고 있다. 

 

St. George Bakery, meanwhile, is a small subterranean grocery store and deli that offers high quality fresh bread and coffee in addition to light and healthy breakfasts and lunches, and also includes the first ever Monocle Shop in the Nordic countries, located at the bakery’s rear.Located in a city that spends a significant amount of time cloaked in darkness, Hotel St. George presents a series of singular social spaces which invite guests and locals alike to lounge, dine and relax. Restaurant Andrea, helmed by Mehmet Gürs, is a contemporary destination restaurant that marries Nordic and Mediterranean flavors via a menu of sharing plates and slow cooked meats, served in an atmospheric space filled with wallmounted sofas and wooden chairs.

 

 

The jewel in the crown is the Wintergarden, which sits underneath a glass-roofed inner courtyard that harks back to the great 18th-century interior gardens, and is flooded with natural light during Helsinki’s precious summer months. Theatrical and grand, the space is dominated by Finnish artist Pekka Jylhä’s specially commissioned overhead sculpture, Learning to Fly, and hosts to a monthly changing schedule of events that sees the space adapt for dining, debate and wellbeing. The Garden Bar, the Wintergarden Restaurant—conceived by famed Finnish restaurateur/musician Antto Melasniemi—and three distinct adjoining salons for private events and meetings complete this dramatic space, which embodies Hotel St. George’s commitment to sensory experiences and art.

 

 

ATELIER
St. George 호텔은 6평부터 15평 규모까지 153개의 객실을 타입에 따라 Atelier, Studio, Suites로 나눴다. 호텔의 모든 객실에는 Vitra, Classicon, &tradition, Sibast 등 고급 브랜드의 가구들과 Poulsen의 조명이 갖춰져 있고, 고급스러운 마감재와 편안한 휴식을 위한 첨단 기술이 채워져 있어 Helsinki의 어느 호텔보다도 아늑한 하룻밤을 선사한다. Atelier 타입은 정교한 Bespoke 가구들과 파랑, 노랑, 오렌지 등의 컬러 팔레트로 섬세하고 미려하게 꾸며진 아늑한 객실이다. 아늑함과 환영받는 듯한 분위기를 조성하는 미술 작품과 오브제들로 채웠으며, 창 밖으로는 Church Park의 고즈넉한 풍경을 감상할 수 있다.

 

Atelier rooms are beautifully detailed with finely-crafted bespoke furniture. The carefully selected colour palette of blue, yellow and orange found in the textiles, art and curated objects of the rooms provides a warm, inviting ambiance. Ateliers offer exceptional views over the Old Church Park.

 

 

 

 

Sky Attic Studio는 St. George 객실의 정수라 할 수 있는 타입이다. 꼭대기 층에 위치해 천창을 갖추고 있으며, 이 곳으로 바라보는 핀란드 밤하늘의 풍경은 무수한 별들로 인해 경이로울 정도로 아름답다. Cozy Studio 타입 객실은 짧은 투숙 기간 동안 프라이빗하고 아늑한 휴식을 찾는 이들에게 최적의 객실이다.

 

Sky Attic Studios are the essence of St. George. Located on the top floor, the rooftop windows allow you to peacefully marvel at the stars and the four seasons of Finland. The private and intimate chambers of the Cozy Studio are perfect for short stays. Soft mint green and pearl grey tones create a calm ambiance, while abstract art energises and balances the building’s classic architecture.

 

 

 

George에는 각각 St. George, Finlandia, Poetry, Coupole과 Church Park라 이름 붙인 5개의 스위트가 구성되어있다. 스위트룸의 명칭은 모두 핀란드의 문화나 건물의 역사를 상징하는 이름이다. St. George Suite는 호텔의 시그니처 스위트 룸으로, 두 개의 독립된 거실과 프라이빗한 마스터 배드룸, 다이닝 룸이 갖춰져 있으며, 모던한 가구들과 클래식 다크 톤의 마감이 섬세한 아름다움을 자아낸다. 한편, 50m²의 테라스가 갖춰진 Finlandia Suite는 클래식한 스위트룸의 전형을 따라 사적인 공간, 넓은 공용 공간이 적절히 조화를 이루는 타입의 객실이다.
